Some poems are simpler but effective, especially the love poems. With the use of ” thu ” they are of universal appeal for the reader’s identification and sharing of feelings.
Others are more sophisticated, those inspired by the early home life, and especially the myths of antiquity, but not abstruse.
The opposite page translations, assumedly by the author himself ( not indicated if so ), apart from a few exemptions and small deviations, are fairly accurate. They would help the non-native language Gaelic reader and the less advanced learner.
Apart from the pleasures of of imagination and freshness of the poetry, even native speakers can gain from the riches of the vocabulary and flow of the style in the more sophisticated poems.
