Kezzie has been overcoming hardships her whole life, and now she’s struggling to bring up her sister Lucy after the death of their father. Amidst the poverty of Clydeside in the 1930s, Kezzie and her grandfather have to try to earn enough money to keep the family together. But fate deals another cruel blow to them when Lucy goes missing and is sent to Canada by an adoption agency. Kezzie decides to find her, and sets off across the ocean, relying only on her own strengh and courage.
