Book launch: ‘Fir an Diùraidh’ by Alistair Paul

Alistair Paul will be visiting from the Isle of Arran to talk about his new novel, Fir an Diùraidh (Men of the Jury).

Alistair is from Glasgow originally, but after moving to the Isle of Arran, his interest in the history and culture of the island inspired him to learn Gaelic and write in Gaelic. He has previously published a collection of Gaelic short stories with Luath Press, Linne Dhomhain, which won the award for Best Unpublished Manuscript for Adults at the Gaelic Book Awards 2020.

This new book, set at the start of the 19th century, follows six men from Arran as they make their way by boat to the mainland to serve on a jury in Inveraray. But as soon as the boat leaves the harbour in Brodick, things start to go wrong as each of their sins are uncovered. Will they manage to reach land and make it to court with a clean conscience?
