Gaelic Play Development Bursary

Applications are open for the Gaelic Play Development Bursary Gaelic, an opportunity for a playwright based in Scotland to receive financial and practical support to create the first draft of a new play in Gaelic, with support from Playwrights’ Studio Scotland in partnership with the Gaelic Books Council.

Support includes:

• £4,100 (equivalent to a first draft fee under the Scottish Society of Playwrights/Federation of Scottish Theatre commissioning agreement)
• A week at a writers’ retreat
• Support from theatre professionals
• A development day with a director and actors

Applicants should be resident in Scotland and anticipate being able to complete the Gaelic Play Development Bursary by 31 March 2027.
