Collected Poetry and Prose by Father John MacMillan of Barra.
Father John MacMillan of Barra (1880-1951) is still fondly remembered – as a priest, as a poet and as a hugely respected figure. Although many of his songs are still sung, this is the first collection of his writings.
A biography of Father John is included at the start of the book, as well as his own account of his journey to Canada, an essay he wrote on Barra history and a tribute by his friend Sir Compton MacKenzie. In addition to his own poetry, there is a collection of hymns which he translated into Gaelic from other languages.
