Comhairle nan Leabhraichean (The Gaelic Books Council) is a registered charity, no SC025026.
We have been supporting Gaelic writers and publishers since 1968. You can read about what we have achieved during our fifty years here. We aim to increase the range of Gaelic literature and to encourage people to read and enjoy Gaelic books.
We are grateful to the organisations and individuals who already support our work. You can help us do even more by making a one-off or regular donation using the PayPal button below:
You can also help to secure the long-term future of Gaelic writing and publishing by remembering us in your will.
How do I leave a gift to charity in my will?
Over the past 50 years the Gaelic Books Council has enabled the production of hundreds of books, allowing readers to enjoy Gaelic history and folklore, creating a canon of contemporary fiction and poetry, and enabling Gaelic speakers, learners and lovers of the language to connect with Gaelic culture through reading. We hope that future generations will benefit from the efforts of the many people and organisations who have worked with us since 1968, and we hope you can help us too.
You don’t need to be a poet or novelist to contribute to the future of Gaelic literature. A few simple words in your will are all you need to write. A gift of even 1% of your estate can make a huge difference to a charity like Comhairle nan Leabhraichean. When you are speaking to your solicitor about making or updating your will, ask them about leaving a gift to charity and give them the following details:
