Coinneach Dòmhnallach was born in 1891 in Sandwick and joined up in 1915. When he returned, he spent the rest of his life as a teacher in Lewis and Glasgow. He had a great fondness for his local community and was involved in the first Labour and Trade movements in Lewis. As is clear from the poetry in this anthology, he was interested in Gaelic and Highland culture and had very strong links to the ceilidh house tradition.
