Description
The Gaelic Songs of Allan the Ridge MacDonald 1794-1868.
Allan the Ridge MacDonald was only one of thousands of Scottish Highland emigrants who came to Nova Scotia at the beginning of the nineteenth century, but he stands out as a gifted Gaelic poet who constantly reminded other emigrants of their heritage and traditions. This first compilation and translation of the poet's known Gaelic songs to be published gives an insight into his life, and the lives of other 19th century Scots in Nova Scotia.
