Sandy NicDhòmhnaill Jones is a versatile and intriguing new voice in Gaelic poetry. She has a home in South Uist and deep affinities with the Hebrides. A singer, harpist and song-composer, with deep respect for traditional poetic forms, she is equally assured in free verse. Her palette of colours is unusually wide, encompassing the whimsical, wistful, arresting and deeply-felt, Crotal Ruadh is the literary maturation of a multi-lingual, cosmopolitan poet with a fascinating career in international affairs.

Sandy won a Gaelic Books Council / Scottish Book Trust Gaelic New Writers Award in 2011, and this title was shortlisted for the 2016 Donald Meek Award. She was awarded the An Comunn Gàidhealach Bardic Crown at the Royal National Mod in Glasgow in 2019.

First published in 2016.
