Description
Gaelic poetry with English translations, introduction and notes in English.
The Highlands and Islands of Scotland experienced immense changes during the nineteenth century. In different contexts, at home and abroad, Highlanders reflected on the changes in their lives, and in no small number expressed themselves eloquently in song and verse. This is the first general anthology of nineteenth-century Gaelic verse to be published since 1879. It offers a fresh look at the poetic creativity of the period and considers the ways in which song and verse were refashioned to meet the challenges of the time.
First published in 2003.
