Byres Road Book Festival: Morag Law and Niall O’Gallagher

24 September 2022 2:00 pm

Saturday 24 September, 2–3pm. Main Hall, Hillhead Library.

Morag Law’s coming-of-age novel, A’ Fàgail an Eilein, based on the Isle of Skye, follows Màiri down memory lane after she discovers a concert programme among her mother’s effects. Morag’s previous work was short-listed for the Highland Society of London Fiction prize at the Gaelic Literature Awards 2020 and she has a particular interest in writing work that is accessible to Gaelic learners. This event will be in Gaelic with simultaneous translation.

Saturday 24 September, 3.30–4.30pm. Main Hall, Hillhead Library.

Niall O’Gallagher was the City of Glasgow Council’s first Gaelic Poet Laureate and he won the Wigtown Scottish Gaelic prize in 2020. Fo Bhlàth is his third poetry collection. Niall will be in conversation with Colin Herd and this event will be in English with Gaelic poetry readings.
